I’ve been playing single entry in these shit PGA tournaments. This week was fucking horrific, but I like how the lineup ended up ownership-wise. I stayed away from the Cock Burns and Montgomery chalk, but unfortunately, the Montgomery chalk hit and he finished 9th. I also had 3 MCs (Posten, Mullinax, and Endycock) in my lineup so that didn’t help either. Sometimes there’s just nothing you can do about variance.
It’s time for the plays. If Phil was in this tournament he would be a stone-cold lock. Phil in Vegas? How could you possibly pass that up?
It’s going to be tough to fade Patrick Cantplay ($11k) this week, but Max Homa ($10.6k) might be on the biggest heater of his career. It began with his T5 at the TOUR Championship and culminated with a dick slapping of the Presidents Cup, including some clutch shots on the final day. Sometimes when a guy is playing this well you just have to ride the hot hand. Cantplay looks like the chalk guzzler of the slate so Homa should be a little less owned and you’ll also save $500 on Draftkings.
The other high-priced play I like is Aaron Wise ($9.9k). The ownership might be a little higher, but he is clearly the best play in the $9k range. Outside of 2 sack gurglings in 2019 (86th place) and 2020 (107th place) he has played well in this event, finishing T8 last year, T15 in 2018 and T32 in 2017. This will be his first tournament since a T13 at the TOUR Championship in late August, but he’s placed in the top 15 of 3 of his last 4 tournaments. A live shot of me on Sunday while Wise drills birdie putt after birdie putt:
I don’t know how you can fade big dick Dean Burmester after his quotes. He’s looking to “put his name next to Tiger’s on some of those trophies“. His notable results include living up to his big dick nickname at The Open (T11), a T10 at the Genesis Scottish Open, and a 4th place finish last week at the Sanderson Farms Championship. He’s never played in this tournament but that doesn’t fucking matter with his recent results. I’ll be balls deep.
Back to the fucking well. We are going for round 2 at Denny’s. The chef shit in our grand slam breakfast and gave us exploding diarrhea for 4 days straight (McCarthy T39 last week) but he deserves a shot at redemption. His history at this tournament is a bit up and down, but he did finish in the top 10 in 2019. At $8.4k and <5% ownership you can’t ask for much more upside even if he isn’t playing as well as he was last spring.
It’s fucking Power Hour. Seamus Power is one of the best values in the entire field at just $7.6k. An upstanding PGA tour member that claims he would never leave for LIV because it would jeopardize his chances of playing in the Ryder Cup. I’m 100% sure Monahan beats his meat to these quotes every time someone lets one loose. Power hour was complete ass shit to end the season with 2 missed cuts and a 65th place finish at the BMW Championship. He finished 21st at this event a year ago so I expect him to have a bit of a bounce-back week.
Another name I’m going back to the well on is Thomas Detry. To say he has laid his gigantic sack on the table would be an understatement. Detry is off to one of the best starts you could ask for this season with a T12 at the Fortinet Championship and a T9 at Sanderson last week. Most of his events have been on the Porn Ferry Tour, but he hasn’t missed a PGA Tour cut since the spring of 2021. He’s somehow still projected under 10% ownership and is by far one of the best plays in the $7k range. Detry dragging the sack around:
It’s time for the dumpster bin. Endycock was a terrible $6k play last week. The first name my eyes are drawn to this week is Beau Hossler ($6.9k). He loves playing at this tournament (T7, T23, T29, and T34 in his last 4) and is coming off of a T25 last week at the Fortinet Championship. Salary relief is not quite as necessary in this field, but I’ll be playing Beau regardless. A course history like that is impossible to pass on.
Chris Gotterup ($6.8k) is a name I haven’t heard for a long, long time. He began as everyone’s favorite play and faded into the dust, but it’s time to bring the Ferrari back out of the garage. He’s finished in the 30s, 40s, and 50s in his last few tournaments, but his price is finally back down under $7k and he becomes great value.
It’s time for the Cash God Guarantee. I’m going a bit off the beaten path this week. It’s Seong-Hyeon Kim. He’s only played in 4 career PGA events but has not missed a cut and rates out extremely well in strokes gained. He finished T13 last week at the Sanderson Farms Championship and I see no reason why he won’t fucking helicopter dick again this week. At 7.2k he almost feels underpriced and looks to be projected around 5% owned. I’m going all in, these types of plays only come around so often. A look at me checking in on the leaderboard on Sunday:
I’ll be back next week.
