I stopped looking at my lineup after the cut last week after having 4 players miss the cut. How the fuck is that even possible? It turns out variance does swing like a pendulum. Shane the fucking brain was a complete failure. Fleetwood, Jizzer, and Posten also inexplicably missed the cut. All in all, it was a completely abysmal slate. To make matters worse I reserved an NBA lineup on Friday, completely forgot to update it, and rolled in with a blank lineup. I was speaking to the bots at the bottom.
One other note is that I’ll never use PGAtour.com again after the fucking butcher job they did to their site recently.
Onto Genesis.
This is the strongest field of the year so far. The Rory fade last week was about the only thing that went right. He finished T32. I’ll, of course, be clicking the exclude button as soon as the page loads once again this week.
After last week I think it’s safe to conclude that Justin Thomas is back. He’s getting little respect against Rory, Scheffler, and Rahm, but is my favorite $10k play this week at almost 10% projected ownership less than Rory’s sorry ass. He began the year with a sack gurgling at The CJ Cup (T40) but came alive last week with a 4th place finish at the WM Phoenix Open. His odds to win aren’t significantly lower than any others in this range, so the price and ownership discount make him the best play.
Colin Morikawa may never recover from that blown lead earlier this year and he looked like absolute shit last week in Phoenix, but this is seemingly the best time to strike. He still has 2 top-3 finishes in his last 3 events and is very capable of taking his dick out on the course at any moment. Morikawa to the patrons that doubted him when he sinks a putt to bring him into the top 3 once again on Sunday afternoon:
I will guzzle the chalk on this one. It’s Diktor Hovland time. He’s projecting to be the highest owned in the $8k range, but for good reason. He’s finished top 5 both times he’s played here and he will be making it a third straight this weekend. He sucked his own dick last week in Phoenix, but I expect a big bounce-back week. I’m not sure I’ve played him since he ran off the course with diarrhea last year, but this is the week I bring him back out of the garage.
I’m just going to say that I’ll be playing Tom Kim until further notice, especially at a projected 12% ownership. I’m going heavy on this $8k range this week and Kim will be a staple. Like a few others on here, he was a sack of shit last week at the WM Phoenix Open, but he’s shown his ability to bounce back well already this year after missing the cut at the Sony Open. Kim already has 4 top 10s this year, including a win. I will be ruining my fucking wall with a gigantic cumshot when he does it again this weekend.
I’m going back to the fucking well. He can’t self-sack gurgle two weeks in a row, can he? It’s time for Tommy Fleetwood’s redemption. His price is almost offensively low at $7.3k. He hasn’t played at Riviera since 2019 when he finished T28. There isn’t much to say about his recent play. Is this the week he finally wins one in the US? No. It’s not, but he just needs to play well at that price.
Speaking of going back to the well, I’m playing K.H. Lee again. I’m sucking down well water this week. Lee has played here in each of the last 4 years, only finishing worse than 26th once. It’s tempting to play Tiger in this range but I have some restraint. Nothing gets my dick harder than Tiger Woods back in a tournament. Lee has a top-10 finish already this year at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. This field is going to be significantly tougher, but he has upside. Live shot of my living room when Lee slips into the top 10 on Sunday:
The only $6k golfer I can get myself to play is Brandon Wu. There isn’t much to be inspired by other than he inexplicably finished T2 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He doesn’t miss many cuts and that’s about all you can ask for out of these dust-bin-priced golfers. I’ll be playing him if I need any salary relief.
It’s time for the Cash God Guarantee. This week it’s Bigdicki. I’m pretty much going to play him until they put some respect on his fucking name. $8.2k seems like a dick slap in the face for what he usually is. I’m going to be hammering the $8k range but will have more Bigdicki than anyone else. I don’t see how you fade him this week much less not play him in every lineup. He has 2 top 10s at Riviera in the past 4 years. There won’t be a much better spot than this at only 10% ownership. I’m all in.
I’ll be back next week.
